Allusive Apprehensions

I see the issues in the world around me
and I howl inside…
Though I can be like frost
found at a split in the road…
Do not view my hesitations to be
Prufrockian in nature…
It’s just that everyone must take a moment
to face their jabberwockian fear…

…and this is why I can’t sleep

My eyes hurt
and my eyelids feel
like they are peeling back
The pain in my body
is coming to the fore
from injuries earned in past deeds
My mind is afire
with ideas and concepts
and filled with a surplus of thoughts

These Thoughts

These thoughts need dissolution,
because they fill my head so…
thoughts of love,
thoughts of joy,
thoughts of sorrow,
thoughts of loss,
thoughts that are too many and need to be let go…
What I wouldn’t do for
some way to think less and find a way to sleep…
The variables and the probabilities plague my mind,
the modus tollens, the modus ponens, more syllogism nightmares.
Sleep eludes me,
evading my clutches,
that clever somnambulant demon…
This pillow is not enough, my brain is afire…
Fully active on overdrive…
thoughts of scenarios and stories
thoughts of my world and my desires…
thoughts of family and of friends and of those I left behind…
What I wouldn’t give for some sleep
free of the things that plague me every time I shut my eyes…

The Hollows

Enter the Hollows, where the Whispers dwell.
Cast in an Eternal Twilight, a light fog hugs low to the waters.
One could get lost in here if one is not careful enough…
The large gathering of Willow Trees reach down to caress my face as I pass by.
Within the Eerie Silence, there is a din, enshrouding my mind with the ambience of this place…
Will’o’the Wisps dancing about, leading me along as I slip into the murky depths… enveloped in the cold.
This is the Hollows, where the Shadows lie.
‘Neath the Great Weeping Willow, Death comes dancing by…

Time

I find it curious, our obsession with time.
We measure our days in hours, minutes and seconds…
These add up to months and years…
We seek to understand this phenomenon and have come to quantify our knowledge of time down to the most minute details, down to Planck time…
One could almost say, we do this in an attempt to attain a level of mastery over it.
Yet, for all of the units of time we have discovered, we never seem to have enough…
For all our talk of it, we seem to be greedy for more time…
“Just one more second,” or “give me a minute.”
We even have means to help someone “manage their time better,” and it is generally frowned upon to “waste another’s time,” or when one does not “take the time” for something…
Yet… When looking back and reflecting on things, we think more of moments rather than precise units of time…
Fleeting moments…
such as the time
you laughed with your friends;
cried because your heart was shattered into pieces;
how you felt when you overcame a particular challenge;
how you were scared for you life and thought you were never going to make it home;
or that kiss that made your heart quicken and the world fell away, ceasing to matter in that moment…
Our memories are measured in moments.

introspective desire…

I find within myself a desire to leave my mark on this world,
to do something that matters,
to share thoughts that matter,
and to touch and improve the lives of those I know…
I want to represent something I believe in…
I believe in you…
Through my words and my deeds I hope to inspire you
to reach for something more…
to realize your potential and make it manifest…
