Forgive me my friend…
forgive me for not being there
forgive me for not saying good-bye
I wasn’t able to make good on my promise to visit
I was too foolish, too self-absorbed, too far away
I was too late…
I’ve failed you….
I’ve allowed too much to happen, too much to distract…
I’m sorry for leaving when I did so long ago…
It never gets easier
never ceases to hurt
when you lose someone you care about
when you lose a friend…

Forgive Me…
Coffee Confessions
Let’s talk about the passion
and the passing of the moments
Let’s talk about your dreams, both broken and new
What do you want?
What is your wish?
Let’s talk about the passion
and that first romantic kiss
Do you still want in?
The day is over and the moon is in sight
Here’s your coffee and my confession
Light another cigarette and show me your scars
I’ll show you my world and all that it entails…
Shall we continue to run from this destructive day?
Scenes from a Willow Tree… part 4
In a rush of fate, toxins of hate seep further and deeper into the soul
with a smile of malevolence, the ire is welcomed
with a cry of fear
the shedding of a tear
usher in the world’s pain on the shoulders to bear
Alone in frustration,
with nowhere to go,
no one to turn
Dreams crumble, Hopes shatter, Love is lost
In a flicker of doubt,
the shadows loom, ominously, overhead
Sitting on the bank of embitterment
I espy a ship of agony slipping by
on the Ashen River of Sorrow,
its waters a cold as Death
Its soporiferous depths imprison the Lost Souls
who sought solitude in its expanse
Under the Willow Tree
a cry of anguish is roiling against its constraints,
impatiently waiting to be unleashed upon the world
Dreams crumble, Hopes shatter, Love is lost
There’s a Tomorrow
There’s a tomorrow
which you will never see, never feel, never know
There’s that moment
where you can see it all, a chance to save it
Like a house of cards
so fragile, a slight breeze will knock it down
Between it all
you will wish, you will want, you will try
and it will all slip right through your fingertips
somehow, you managed to fail
You’re grasping at straws, trying to move along
while someone else is trying to prove you wrong
chastising, berating, making you doubt yourself
You pick yourself up, try to push on through
try to ignore the pain, the wounds and everything else
What keeps you going?
What are you fighting for?
Why not give up?
Is what they say to you…
They rub it in your face
your defeat, your failure, your mistake
Yet you still keep going
keep fighting, keep hoping, keep dreaming
It’s overwhelming, daunting, a challenge
you want to cry, you want to die, you want to hide
Will it all end in failure?
Will it all end in happiness?
or will it all end before you get that chance?
Scenes from a Willow Tree… Part 3
Death comes for the Smiling Man
drifting through the tall grass
A part of his story finished,
finally, at long last…
A tear slides down his face
given to him
by the one he loves
Holding him near
whispering her love
and thanks for all he’s done
she realizes she’s lost
the one she loves…
Letting out a cry of anguish
she’s all alone…
Am l so fundamentally broken?
I should feel happy
I should feel loved
I should feel… something.
Perhaps my chameleon circuitry is broken and I cannot switch it off…
Perhaps I lost sight of who I was
and have no basis from which to draw…
Perhaps I gave up my sense of self
to help others…
Now, the world has moved on without me.
I just want to sleep…
So that I can fast forward to the next day
And slow down my brain and not be plagued by these thoughts
That threaten to push me over the edge.
This Connection
Falling through the myriad melodies
Down past a series of doors
Each one a passing story
Moments and memories
Connecting us
Our paths entwined…
Will you take my hand
as we slide on down
through the Annals of Time Immemorable?
The delicate melodies bind us
as our fingers interlace
as we reconnect with ancient memories
Come with me…
Let us run from this ruinous day…
We shall seek a brighter tomorrow
Soft lips bring a blurring of the hours
Emotional details etched in the mind
Captured in a net of memories
With a kiss, the world falls away
Leaving the two of us immortalized in this moment…
The Eleventh Hour
At my rope’s end, the year’s own approaching
Hope seemed elusive and romance bygone
Sadness and sorrow, recent wounds healing
Has solitude been my fate all along?
A timely encounter, a smile, and kiss
The music moves us, our energies flow
The taste of your lips sparks an awareness
My mind is spinning, thoughts quickly follow
Candid conversations, intense moments
A certain sense of rightness fills the night
Our views and desires, and stars’ alignments
Tells me this is something real, feels so right
In the Eleventh Hour you and I met
Next year together will be the best yet.
