Where do you go when you sleep?
Promise
Her boat is gently placed in the waters and cast adrift, sent along its course to meet up with the sea.
Eyes burning with tears, he watches as it makes its way.
Good-bye
as if to hold any tighter would prove this moment to be an illusion
and disappear as whisps of smoke through grasping fingers
Forgive Myself
I could never forgive
myself for the mistakes
I made in the past
In my memories they shall stay
haunting me.
Cursing me
for giving them life
I only wish I knew how to change
and how to forgive myself
but I did this
I fucked up.
Now I am being
punished.
Not being able to forget…
I’ve been so blind
for so long
I want to learn to see.
I haven’t listened
to anyone
I want to learn to hear.
If only I could
learn to speak
how I feel for you
at the right time.
Please,
help me…
help me learn,
learn to forget
and forgive myself.
Cycles
The cycles
the patterns
repeating over
and over
until I get it
right
until I learn
the events
the happenings
are played over
and over
until I realize
my mistakes
until I see
Undone
Kneeling down, he scooped her up in his arms and stood.
“Where will you go?” came the voice from behind.
“Away,” he looked down at her face, recalling the time it was filled with a vibrancy, “from all this.”
“There’s nowhere left to go my friend…”
“I have no friends anymore” he whispered too softly.
“Look around you! This is your doing! Do you think they’ll just let you walk?! Disappear?!”
He turned his head towards him, “They shouldn’t worry anymore, my magic is undone. I am undone.”
“Well, they will! A price has to be paid… You’ve yet to pay that price,” Motioning towards her, “don’t you recall her warnings?”
“Enough blood has been spilled on this matter, they-“
“They are about balances, or have you forgotten that in this life as well?!”
“No, I have not.”
Rynan’s Lament
Now that you are gone,
Torn from my arms all those ages ago
Across the Seas of Time I’ve sought you…
I only wanted to be with you…
free of the responsibilities of our station.
If only I hadn’t slipped
I only wanted to be with you…
free to chase our wildest dreams.
If only I hadn’t been so blind
I only wanted to be with you…
like we talked about in those Twilight Times
I did this all for you
for our souls are entwined
I only wanted you by my side
perhaps too quickly… too soon…
For you are my Love
and I ached when a day went by
without your presence in my life
Now, the worlds are torn asunder and I am to blame
Across the shattered landscapes of warped realities
I attempt to set things right
for that is my path to you…
Now, I only encounter you in my dreams…
A sense, a touch, a smile and a kiss…
Now the World is Torn Asunder
“What did you expect?! That things would go as you wrote in your stories?!” the harshness in her voice struck him like a shard of ice.
Fighting back the urge to drop to his knees and take it all back, “I… only…. wanted to make things like we talked about. Where was the harm in that? Did I foresee this? No… I did not. I can still make this right.” Looking to his left out to the horizon, he couldn’t take seeing her like this.
“A lot of good that did Rynan. Now look at this mess. Why couldn’t you leave well enough alone? Why? Why couldn’t you accept that fact?”
“I can fix it, I can set things right, I can-“
“The world is torn asunder! How can you fix that? You killed him! And now the balance is no more, the cauldron has been tipped, spilling out over all of Creation. You know what this means?”
Letting out a long, rueful sigh, “Yes… yes I do my love, it means that the truce that’s been drawn up will be no more.”
“War, Rynan, there will be a war… and they will blame us-“
“They will blame me, my love, I alone will suffer the conseque-“
“No you won’t, it’s too late… the damage is done,” shaking her head, “I came here to tell you, my lover, my friend… It’s too late.”
A shadow fell upon his face as a dim understanding settled in, “What has happened?”
“They are to cast judgement upon me…”
Aftermath
Looking down at his gloved hands, The leather soaked with the blood of years of conquest and battle.
He can still see a glint of crimson in the metal, try as he might, to clean them throughout the years.
Maybe it’s some form of remorse.
Already, those whom he assigned, are carrying out their orders.
Gathering the dead, and clearing out the field.
Taking down the names of those who have fallen, so that he can enter their names into his book.
His tribute to them, a sign that he will always honor those who have served under him, bled and died for him.
At the sound of his name, he pulls himself away from his thoughts.
Let me be
Let me be
the one you call
in the middle of the night
Let me be
the one you need
when you’re losing the fight
Let me be
something special
and meaningful in your life
Let me be
if you don’t care
So I can carry on with my life
